Staff covered by collective bargaining agreement

These groups are covered by collective bargaining agreement: 

  • Administrative and Technical Staff (Mitarbeitende aus Technik und Verwaltung, MTV)
  • Research assistants (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeitende, WiMi)
  • Lecturers for special assignments (Lehrbeauftragte für besondere Aufgaben, LfbA)

Usually, the same provisions apply to civil servants (Verwaltungsbeamt*innen) as to staff covered by collective agreements.

Professors

The working conditions found on this page do not apply for professors.

Working hours

The standard weekly working hours, based on a full-time position, are 39.8 hours. We record your working hours digitally and ensure that overtime will be offset in a timely manner.

Flexitime

At HAWK, working hours are flexible from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday. This flexitime arrangement allows you to balance your personal life and work.

Your department should be available during what is known as "Funktionszeit". You ensure this availability by making arrangements within your team. 

These are the "Funktionszeiten"

  • Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Remote working

Our staff can generally work remotely for up to 40% of their working time (depending on their tasks). Days spent working from home have to be agreed upon with the supervisor and within the team.

 

Holiday entitlement

If you work five days a week, you are entitled to 30 leave days per year

Salary

At HAWK you profit from our affiliation with the TV-L (collective agreement for the public service of the German Länder) 

You can use the TV-L salary calculator online to estimate your expected net earnings (there is only a German version available). Your pay grade is determined by the duties assigned to you.
